The annual PGA Mayakoba Golf Classic, held just 15 minutes south of Puerto Morelos, has been scheduled for February 22-26, 2012.
The tournament tour stop started in 2006 and was the first international stop on the PGA tour. It looks like the tournament has been a success for the PGA, as they have just renewed the contract with the Mayakoba's El Camaleon Golf Course for another 6 years -- ensuring the tournament will stay at Mayakoba for another 6 years through 2018.
Many Puerto Morelians volunteer for the tournament and gain free entry for the event. If you are interested in volunteering, contact them at this link.
