Chiapas Trunk Show on Saturday!

Palenque
How were your holidays? Hope they were warm and merry!!

The fam and I have spent the last week in Chiapas, Mexico. UN-BE-LIEV-ABLE! Fantastic! Stupendous! Incredible! You get the picture, right??

We spent the first few days in Palenque, a beautiful Mayan archaeological site that is nestled within a National Park. Howler Monkeys can be heard at dawn. The ruins are settled among the lush greenery of the surrounding rain forest.

The remainder of our time was spent in the mountains, exploring the town of San Cristobal de Las Casas and its surrounding villages.

The San Cristobal area is world renown for the textiles that are woven by local indigenous groups. The women weavers are truly talented and produce amazing embroidered and hand-loomed fabrics, as well as unusual pieces of pottery.

The markets in San Cristobal overflow with these beautiful pieces, but for the real deal -- one must travel to the nearby villages where the women, often working in cooperatives, ply their trade.

Many of you know that I am an avid collector of Mexican folkart and crafts. So, I couldn't wait to get my hands on some of the incredible pieces that the locals make.  In addition, I have purchase a few extra pieces to share! So, I am going to be having a trunk sale this weekend, and I hope to see you! Stop by for a visit -- even if you aren't interested in purchasing any folkart -- I'd still love to see you!
