Whale Shark Festival!!!

If you haven't gone swimming with whale sharks, I can provide no description of the experience that could remotely do it justice. 

They are immense.  The experience is powerful.  You have to make a point of going.  Enough said, because words can't capture it...

So, if you happen to be down in July, there is a Whale Shark Festival going on in Isla Mujeres (as if you need an excuse to get yourself to that adorable island for a day or two).  If you aren't going to the festival, you can still swim with the sharks who are generally migrating through the area until September.
